Well, for most people here it meant to bundle up or go shopping for winter clothes .... for us ... take the car and enjoy a day outside.
Volker suggested to stretch our legs a bit at the Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge. Great idea!
Finally a chance to get some fresh air without getting roasted and being bothered by mosquitoes.
We had not entered the park yet when two roadrunners crossed right in front of us. They are funny looking birds and pretty fast runners, too fast for me and my little camera (why do I always forget the real one?), but you can see them here.
Walking the short trail was not very exciting.
At the visitor center we saw six green jays.
Something we did not have time for last time was taking the 15 mile bay loop afterwards.
Would we see anything here? We should find out.The entrance to the Bayside Drive.

Well, ocelots are nocturnal, so chances to get a glimpse are almost zero, but we did see something else.

And then, at the end of our tour, we ran into a group of peccaries or more commonly named javelinas. A great good-bye.
They like to eat prickly pear. I wonder how they get around those thorns. Each leave is bigger than a grown man's hand and full of stingers.
We enjoyed our trip immensely. Cloudy with a chance of wild animals. What a perfect day!
