The other Friday Volker and I tried something new. We went to an art class called Tipsy Canvas!
It works like that:
You register online, you show up (the more the merrier) and you can bring your own snacks and drinks (beer and wine included). Your utensils are provided and you learn how to make a painting step by step. Just don't take it too seriously!! This class is about fun and for all kind of artists, beginners or little Picassos.
We went with a party of six.
Let's get started! First we set up our "picnic", then each of us was provided with an apron, two brushes, a canvas and paint.
This was our topic for the evening: Daisies!
From that painting you can create your own. You don't have to use the same colors, painting is about creativity and joy.
The hat, by the way, is no hat. It is a cake!
First we were told how to make the background
from red to brown, blending the colors. Easier said than done. You have to work quickly.

Then we had to wait for the acrylic paint to dry. The green canvas was made by my husband, he doesn't like red :) Looks like he wasn't alone.
It is called Tipsy Canvas for a reason - you can snack and enjoy a glass of wine whenever you want. Motivation and inspiration go hand in hand ;) Just make sure you don't put your brush into your neighbor's wine glass or drink the water for the brushes by accident ...
After the canvas had dried we got instructed on how to paint the flowers. a critical glance. I swear I could see their brains working hard :)
adding a splash of more color
Looking around. Most of us tried to do it close to the original.
adding a bit more detail
VoilĂ , Tipsy Daisies! Done!
Our master pieces
Ollis meadow - not bad, huh?!
Alexis had been there several times before, here is her daisy piece
Rick's painting reminded me of "Moonflowers"
and Teviet's was a colorful one
my husband's "jungle-flowers"
my piece, let's call it "Fat Daisies" ;)
Three hours went by like five minutes. In the end we all had a "master piece" to take home.
The Tipsy Daisies Group. I wish the pictures were better, but all we had was cell phones.
What a fun way of socializing and learning something new. Do you have something like that in your town?

What a fun idea. I think the daisies turned out nicely. Just think, you could make all your own art for your house after a few more times!

Thanks, David :)
Practice makes perfect, right? I am pretty sure that this wasn't the first and last time. It really was fun!
Looks like we both enjoy gardening and creative and fun things as well.
I have to work on my green thumb, though.
By the way, your fence made me think it would also look nice as a 3D model ... ;)
Cannot wait to see the finished project!
Thanks for the comment,
Michaela
