Family vacation

This year we had a different family reunion. Not here, not there, but in Utah - in an RV.
We spent ten wonderful days together.

My sister and brother-in-law had a dream:
They would come to the States, rent an RV and spend a few weeks on the road.
It took more than 25 years to make this dream come true.
Our dream was to get out of Brownsville for a while, do something fun.
And fun we had :)

In ten days we didn't get far, but most points of interest were close by.
We met our family in Green Rivers and said good-bye in Moab.

June 1st

Salt Lake City
After we had arrived in SLC, we visited the AAA and the visitor center for some information. On the way there we passed this interesting building

The Temple is fascinating, but the garden ... sigh, beautiful

2. Juni

Goblin Valley
Sigrid and I were the first ones to get up. With a cup of coffee we enjoyed the sunup. It was so quiet!
Breakfast in the morning
After a hearty breakfast, we began to plan our day

There were not only sandstone formations. Something had crossed our path.

Most animals are nocturnal. It is too hot, but this little lizard likes it that way.

Life is good! We spent two nights here.

3. und 4. Juni

Arches National Park

To see a spectaculare sunset we hiked to Delicate Arch.

Hi!It was too cloudy for a great sunset, but waiting together with all that people was fun.

Next morning ....
It takes a lot of coffee to make this grumpy face disappear :)

We are HEEEEEEEEEEERE!This could be a new archdogs are not allowed on the trails, but nobody said anything about being carried alongmy sister with hat!!!

5. Juni

Canyonlands and Rodeowe drove on a dirt road into the canyon

it got really warm
doesn't it look fantastic?

The professional rodeo was fun to watch. It looks so easy, and it is not. Three people got hurt.

Dead Horse State Park

Not quite as big as the Grand Canyon, but impressive.
If you cannot escape your chores, make it fun. Harry enjoyed it.

Top of the World

4x4 Jeep and Off-Road
In the beginning I wasn't so sure about this adventure, but I got used to it.
The only ones having a great time were volker and Harry - the drivers.

Once in a while some of us had to get out and help. There were directions to give and stone ramps to build. At the end:

9. Juni

A lazy day in Moab
Moab is a cute little tourist place. Great food, great shopping and the view ...

Not only was it our last day, but it was Harry's birthdayPortal RV Resort was a nice surprise. For some reason I thought most places were horrible.

I am sure some of them are, we saw a few, but this one is really not. This is the cleanest campground I have ever seen or heard of. We stayed for the rest of our time there.
